Delta Xi History

The Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi was founded in 1949 at San Diego, and has flourished since its inception. Throughout its 60 years, the Delta Xi chapter has been known for the development of character, confidence, and responsibility in each and every brother. Delta Xi has also flourished in other mediums such as:

Athletics: Delta Xi has established a tradition of excellence in many sports, including football, basketball, soccer, and softball.

Academics: Delta Xi is one of the most academically accomplished organizations at all of San Diego State. The chapter had a cumulative GPA above a 3.0, ranking Delta Xi well above most other Greek organizations. As the Spring 2011 semester as San Diego State approaches, the brothers of Delta Xi look forward to further raising the chapter GPA and attaining academic success.

Brotherhood: What makes the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi unique to not only other fraternities at San Diego State, but also nationwide, is the brotherhood that exists between members. Whether it is at a day of paintball, a weekend barbeque, or an annual trip to Las Vegas, brothers in Delta Xi share a unique bond unrivaled by any organization anywhere.

As one can see, the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi has evolved over the years, reaching a pinnacle of excellence not only in the Greek system but amongst all organizations. The young men graduating from Delta Xi leave San Diego State prepared to make their own mark on the world, to attain the unattainable, to conquer the impossible, and to push back any limit placed upon them in order to achieve the unfeasible.

Sigma Chi History

Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at the University of Miami in Ohio. Seven founders were present and conducted the beginning of the greatest fraternity on earth
today. These seven founders are held very deeply in our hearts and give us the seven standards to ennoble our lives by.

Sigma Chi gentleman are always:
Men of good characters
Students of fair ability
Having ambitious purposes
Attaining a congenial disposition
Possessing good morals
Having a high sense of honor
And a deep sense of personal responsibility

Sigma Chi values itself on brotherhood. We all are bonded by the fellowship which is reciprocally instilled in us through our teachings
as a pledge and as a brother. The motto of Sigma Chi is "In Hoc Signo Vinces" which means 'Within this sign, you will conquer.'
Being a Sigma Chi will guide you to conquer any goal or surpass any expectation you ever had for yourself.
Sigma Chi is based on friendship, justice, and learning. Once initiated, Sigma Chi is for life

Our mission statement: “To strengthen our brotherhood and ensure that the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi retains its status as the preeminent fraternity at San Diego State University, we will expand and utilize our alumni, prioritize and praise excellent scholastics, implement a model pledge program that embellishes the values of our ritual, form a recruitment process that seeks new members embodying the seven standards of Sigma Chi and continually strive to build everlasting bonds of friendship that extend past the walls of Delta Xi”.
