Delta Xi History

The Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi was founded in 1949 at San Diego, and has flourished since its inception. Throughout its 60 years, the Delta Xi chapter has been known for the development character, confidence, and responsibility in each and every brother. Delta Xi has also flourished in other mediums such as:

Athletics: Delta Xi has established a tradition of excellence in many sports, including football, basketball, soccer, and softball. Last year, the Delta Xi football team was victorious in the crescent bowl, as the team held all opponents scoreless. Also, the softball team recently won the Fall 2009 IFC Softball Championship, beginning the 2009-2010 sports year with a bang.

Academics: Delta Xi is one of the most academically accomplished organizations at all of San Diego State. The chapter had a cumulative GPA above a 3.0, ranking Delta Xi well above most other Greek organizations. As the fall 2009 semester as San Diego State approaches, the brothers of Delta Xi look forward to further raising the chapter GPA and attaining academic success.

Leadership: Delta Xi breeds leaders, and this is evidenced by the abundance of brothers that hold positions in student government. Tyler Boden, the current President of Associated Students at San Diego State, is a brother of Delta Xi. James Poet, who was AS President the two years preceding Boden, is also a brother of Delta Xi. Many other brothers have also held or are currently holding positions in Associated Students as well. Delta Xi’s don’t wait for results; they go out and create their own success. Tyler Boden and James Poet are two exemplary examples of this.

Brotherhood: What makes the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi unique to not only other fraternities at San Diego State, but also nationwide, is the brotherhood that exists between members. Whether it is at a day of paintball, a weekend barbeque, or an annual trip to Las Vegas, brothers in Delta Xi share a unique bond unrivaled by any organization anywhere.

As one can see, the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi has evolved over the years, reaching a pinnacle of excellence not only in the Greek system but amongst all organizations. The young men graduating from Delta Xi leave San Diego State prepared to make their own mark on the world, to attain the unattainable, to conquer the impossible, and to push back any limit placed upon them in order to achieve the unfeasible. At the Delta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi, leadership will forever be abundant.
